Karen Willems is searching for personal modifications within her play of instruments and objects which should lead to a better development and enrichment as a musician.

Her project ‘Terre Sol’ will map out that path through different tape releases.

There is stylistically divergence on each tape. Where the 2nd tape was more an excursion, Bentillse Berber is more an extention of the first one ‘Grondwerken Willems’.

Bentillse Berber is very intimate and pure.
A reflection of the days in quarantine.
Joy, sadness, melancholy and hope.

Karen Willems is a Belgian drummer / percussionist, active in various fields. Started as a drummer in rock and pop bands such as Zita Swoon Group, Jan Swerts, Pascal Deweze, Yuko, Novastar, Mauro Pawlowski and others.

With a number of musicians she built up a tradition within improvised music and sound art: Eric Thielemans, Jean DL, Benjamin Glorieux, Aidan Baker, Stijn Dickel, Kaboom Karavan, Frederik Croene..

Willems is also active in theater, dance and contemporary music productions and worked with Kopergietery, Ultima Vez, ChampdAction, Platform K

Willems started her own project in 2012 under the moniker 'INWOLVES'. Now she focuses on research and solo work.
