W.E.R.F. Records has landed on Planet Grom Wom, a new and mysterious universe created by drummer and percussionist Karen Willems .
With her new cassette tape, K A A P M I J, Karen Willems weaves a quilt of whispers, reverberations, tappings and murmurs, tearing sounds apart and creating new worlds with them. These sonic collages came about during a residency at our KAAP studio, where Karen played around with a unique selection of her instruments, many of which she’s sculpted or tweaked to her liking.
Her work often has a playful and ominous nature, and with her solo project K A A P M I J, she explores yet another fringe of experimentation and tactility, slightly more stripped down, but ever so hauntingly beautiful.
